Position Description:
Provide SQL development support to client users of financial data stored in a very large and complex MS SQL
Server database. Write custom query solutions to efficiently pull financial data for quantitative analysis.
Improve query performance by streamlining processes and taking advantage of database structure (metadata,
table keys, etc.). Diagnose and direct data problems for data team associates. Diagnose and direct development
problems for development team associates. Maintain database documentation. Train SQL database client users via
both online training and in person.

Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business
- SQL programming experience
- The ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally with users with a broad range of technical experience
- Advanced analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask using well developed time management skills
- Excellent listening skills and ability to ask key questions of users
- Detail oriented
- Time management skills
- Ability to work under deadlines
Significant Advantages:
- Advanced query construction (left joins, inline views, OSQL, BCP, sub-selects, temporary tables, etc.)
- Familiarity with key financial data vendors (Compustat; I/B/E/S; IDC; S&P; MSCI; WorldScope; Multex; etc.)
- Understanding of financial markets
- Experience in analytics or finance
- Experience writing embedded SQL
- DOS; VBS; SAS languages
- SQL Server 2000/2005 TSQL
