FasTick RT Advantages
Speed & Robustness
FastTick RT is an industrial strength tick capture system.
A FastTick RT server installation will capture, sort and
archive over 180 million ticks from over 700,000 tickers per day.
Most of our speed and performance analysis has involved these large
installations.
The analytic/tick retrieval limitation of each FastTick RT server is the
effective sustained bandwidth of the network connection. Each FastTick RT has
been load balanced to serve 100Mb of data per second with up to 1024 users per
server. This bandwidth can be utilized in different ways depending on the client
needs. A typical installation can serve approximately 1,024,000 analytic requests
per second or 512,000 raw tick requests per second. Each analytic is continuously calculated as new ticks arrive
and the processing time required to calculate the analytic is insignificant compared
to the network bandwidth limitation. The FastTick RT server has a request
processing pulse of 50 milliseconds. This is the effective latency between the
request and the severing of each request.
FastTick RT is a real-time data capture mechanism allowing the user to capture internal feeds,
clean data, and store the data in the FastTick container. There are three
FastTick feeders - Unix and Windows generic feeders as well as a Reuters feeder.
APIs can query real time and historical data simultaneously. The FastTick RT infrastructure can handle sustained
flows of one hundred thousand ticks per second with no data loss. FastTick RT has a complete Meta
data layer with its own set of APIs. The following APIs are used to access data:
- C++ Windows API
- Java Windows API
- C++ Unix Socket API
- C++ Windows Socket API
FastTick RT also has socket-based, publish/subscribe streaming capabilities.
